SUSTAINABILITY
SUSTAINABILITY AT THERMAL MANAGEMENT EXPO
Sustainability is important to our attendees and exhibitors, as well as to the communities that we serve. As the event organizers, we have an opportunity to improve our impacts environmentally, socially, and economically, and to place sustainability at the heart of Thermal Management Expo. We are driven to ensure our event plays a key role in helping our served market deliver sustainability benefits, and our parent company (Informa Markets), is committed to reducing their environmental impact at every level and embedding those values in all business practices.
OUR THREE AIMS
OUR SUSTAINABILITY INIATIVES
Ensuring our content offerings support the increased sustainability of the Thermal Management market
Developing market-relevant sustainability partnerships
Collaborating with the venue and general service contractor to compile data on the waste produced by events and electricity used. Studying the data to determine improvements from year to year
Sourcing signage and printed materials using recyclable materials and considering the sustainability credentials of all other items sourced for the event
Communicating with our suppliers, exhibitors and partners how they can deliver a sustainable event
Ordering multiple-use carpet
Introducing Better Stands – an initiative to eliminate disposable stands from the events industry
Supporting the local community by encouraging our attendees and exhibitors to make the most out of local restaurants and sights to enjoy. Find out more here.
ATTENDEE & EXHIBITOR SUSTAINABILITY TIPS
While you are attending Thermal Management Expo, there are ways you can reduce your carbon footprint:
Waste Reduction
- Use a refillable water bottle and coffee cup while at the exhibition and conference.
Air Quality/CO2 Impact
- Access a ride share or take public transport to/from the airport and to/from your hotel
- If possible, walk to the venue to reduce CO2 emissions.
Reduce signage waste by:
- Embrace digital, go paperless. Reduce your paper output by switching to digital alternatives. Instead of handing out a brochure to every visitor, invite them to scan a QR code that links to an online PDF, or use a tablet for them to fill out their email address. If you do need to print or have promotional materials produced, make sure they are made from eco-friendly sources and create reusable non-dated signs that can be used year after year.
- Avoid foamcore signs and request recyclable material such as cardboard signage.
Reduce booth waste by:
- Requesting sustainable options from the event operations team
- Use environmentally friendly freebies. Try finding something which is environmentally friendly, there are many companies creating recycled products, such as, recycled wood USB sticks or you could brand something biodegradable like apples instead.
- Set a goal to leave no trace behind by shipping out all booth properties and packing materials and donating extra giveaways
Keep it local
- Whether it is for your booth build, temporary staff, products or materials, try using local businesses, not only will you be contributing to the country’s economy, you will be reducing carbon emissions and costs from transportation.
Energy Conservation
- Power down your booth at the end of each show day
Freight Sustainability
- Consider the impact of shipping stand materials; speak to our official freight forwarder about sending goods to the advance warehouse to reduce vehicle movement during the event
Better Stands
- We are encouraging exhibitors to join us with the Better Stands programme and to think about what disposable materials they are bringing to the event. This initiative is proven to make the exhibitor experience easier, safer and more sustainable for everyone involved. Join us in moving towards the future of exhibiting. Find out more here.
Faster to Zero Commitments
- Become carbon neutral as a business by 2025
- Halve the waste generated through our products and events by 2025
- Become zero waste and net zero carbon by 2030, or earlier
